Once upon a time, just after the turn of the 21st century, a compassionate and dedicated family embarked on a heartfelt mission to provide solace and support to those grieving the loss of their loved ones. Thus, AFTERLIFE FUNERALS was born, an independent family-owned funeral service provider in Sydney. In 2023, the AFTERLIFE FUNERALS brand underwent a formal name change and the new name of FUNERA was established. Same family, same team, just a fresh name.

My extensive background in managing over 6,000 funerals has taught me the importance of honesty, transparency, and ethical behaviour in serving families during their most vulnerable times.

With a positive and empathetic attitude, I provide clear and direct guidance, setting realistic expectations and helping families navigate the complexities of funeral planning. With a background in Industrial Electronics Technology, AutoCAD, Photogrammetric Correction and Graphic Arts, Ariel has been placed in charge of the design team. Ariel assigns the workload based on the urgency of tasks required with the can-do attitude of late nights, weekends etc. Having worked closely with Scott on the FUNERA branding and roll out, Ariel understands the importance of getting things done then and now.

As a Chinese celebrant host, Ben's role extends beyond floral design. He conducts ceremonies with grace and respect, seamlessly blending traditional Chinese customs with modern sensibilities. Ben's journey with Funera began ten years ago, and since then, he has become an indispensable member of our team. Since completing his studies, Patrick has showcased his talent at a wide range of events, including weddings, funerals, private functions, corporate events, bars, festivals, and on cruise ships. His versatility extends to corporate cover gigs as well as original projects that explore genres such as RnB, Blues, Lo-fi, Rock, and Jazz Fusion. These projects have involved writing sessions, studio recordings, and live performances across the state. Reverend Ernest Lui (雷榮祖主任牧師) is a distinguished minister and celebrant at Funera, offering compassionate funeral services in Cantonese and Mandarin. With over three decades of pastoral experience, Rev. Lui brings a wealth of spiritual guidance and cultural understanding to both religious and non-religious ceremonies.
Rev. Lui's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Theology from Evangel Seminary, Hong Kong, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, USA. His extensive ministry experience spans continents, having served at Hong Kong Evangelical Church (1988-1992), Bread of Life Christian Church in Ma On Shan (1995-2004), and currently at Australian Christ Evangelical Church (since 2004).
Ordained as a pastor in 2000 by the Bread of Life Christian Church World Missions, Rev. Lui is also a Justice of the Peace and a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant (Religion). This unique combination of roles allows him to provide comprehensive support to families during their time of loss.
Rev. Lui's approach to funeral services is characterised by his deep respect for diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds. Whether conducting a traditional religious ceremony or a personalised non-religious service, he ensures that each farewell is meaningful and comforting for the bereaved.

Arthur Psaltis - BComm FCA (retired), GAICD. Arthur provides the business overarching specialist capital markets advice, and structuring services. Arthur’s stewardship brings with it 38 years of experience in financial services. Arthur has spent the last 25 years leading equity capital markets teams at VMG, Nab, Westpac and Macquarie and his experience span ECM, M&A, corporate finance, business recovery and reconstruction advice. Arthur has operated across borders on capital raising in Europe, Australia and Asia with strategic advice across multiple asset classes. A key component is his skill in the creation of new strategies aimed at advancing the potential of organisations. Arthur has covered industry groups as diverse as banking, property, professional services, retailing, consumer goods, transport, education, insurance, superannuation and aged care. Arthur is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (retired) and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales majoring in accounting, finance, and systems.

The FUNERA management team is led by Scott Harris, who has extensive knowledge garnered from over 23 years industry experience. Working with other firms and having had the last 19 years of self management, Scott has personally overseen more than 4000 funerals. Scott is a caring individual who has a positive empathetic attitude towards others and is passionate about changing the industry because it serves as a platform to help families in their time of need. Scott also has an extension knowledge with Information Technology specialising in Server Management and Networking, whilst also delivering an extensive background in Transport Logistic and Freight Management.

Lee is currently based in our South Africa office and has worked for the Funera group for 7+ years. Having run his own design studio in Cape Town South Africa and having assisted in the original design of the brand and website, Lee showcased having extensive knowledge in branding and Shopify web design. We are hoping to see him in the land of Oz one day to understand more of our cultural ways and slang
