Thus, AFTERLIFE FUNERALS was born, an independent family-owned funeral service provider in Sydney. In 2023, the AFTERLIFE FUNERALS brand underwent a formal name change and the new name of FUNERA was established. Same family, same team, just a fresh name. My extensive background in managing over 6,000 funerals has taught me the importance of honesty, transparency, and ethical behaviour in serving families during their most vulnerable times. Transparency - I believe in fostering open and honest communication with the families I serve. With a positive and empathetic attitude, I provide clear and direct guidance, setting realistic expectations and helping families navigate the complexities of funeral planning. My goal is to build trust and ensure that every family feels supported and cared for throughout the process. Quality - With a unique blend of industry expertise and technical knowledge, I am dedicated to delivering exceptional service to every family. My extensive experience in funeral management, combined with my background in Information Technology and Logistics, enables me to provide personalised and efficient solutions that meet the unique needs of each family. The quiet achiever of the team with a warm approach and that friendly Thai smile, Sara oversees the daily business operations offering more than 10 years’ experience as a General Manager. Sara shows extreme reliability and is a very cooperative team member. Sara also brings to FUNERA a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations Management. Native Thai spoken, Sara also is a public speaker and former promotional model for several international brands & products.

With a background in Industrial Electronics Technology, AutoCAD, Photogrammetric Correction and Graphic Arts, Ariel has been placed in charge of the design team. Ariel assigns the workload based on the urgency of tasks required with the can-do attitude of late nights, weekends etc. Having worked closely with Scott on the FUNERA branding and roll out, Ariel understands the importance of getting things done then and now.

The baby of the team, softly spoken Erica is a social media enthusiast with a keen eye for detail. With a background in Marketing and Business Management, she's the driving force behind our team's social media presence and keeps the design team on their toes. As our appointed Social Media Specialist, Erica takes the reins of digital marketing, ensuring every post, blog, campaign, and strategy is executed with precision. Her passion for creating meaningful connections through social media is evident in her work.

He holds a Diploma of Music Performance and a Bachelor of Music Performance, specialising in Classical, Jazz, Blues, and Contemporary piano. Since completing his studies, Patrick has showcased his talent at a wide range of events, including weddings, funerals, private functions, corporate events, bars, festivals, and on cruise ships. His versatility extends to corporate cover gigs as well as original projects that explore genres such as RnB, Blues, Lo-fi, Rock, and Jazz Fusion. These projects have involved writing sessions, studio recordings, and live performances across the state. Patrick's diverse musical background and extensive performance experience make him a valuable addition to our team and for families looking for that extra touch.

The key position to any funeral is the celebrant or minister. Phillip delivers an exceptional service and is always complimented. Showing loyalty to the firm over 8 years, Phillip has had added arranging and conducting funerals to his resume when he isn’t required as a celebrant. Phillip also brings extensive Sydney logistic knowledge to the group and is willing to strive that extra mile 24/7 to complete the tasks provided.

(Minister and Celebrant)
Reverend Ernest Lui (雷榮祖主任牧師) is a distinguished minister and celebrant at Funera, offering compassionate funeral services in Cantonese and Mandarin. With over three decades of pastoral experience, Rev. Lui brings a wealth of spiritual guidance and cultural understanding to both religious and non-religious ceremonies. Rev. Lui's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Theology from Evangel Seminary, Hong Kong, and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, USA. His extensive ministry experience spans continents, having served at Hong Kong Evangelical Church (1988-1992), Bread of Life Christian Church in Ma On Shan (1995-2004), and currently at Australian Christ Evangelical Church (since 2004). Ordained as a pastor in 2000 by the Bread of Life Christian Church World Missions, Rev. Lui is also a Justice of the Peace and a registered Civil Marriage Celebrant (Religion). This unique combination of roles allows him to provide comprehensive support to families during their time of loss. Rev. Lui's approach to funeral services is characterised by his deep respect for diverse cultural and spiritual backgrounds. Whether conducting a traditional religious ceremony or a personalised non-religious service, he ensures that each farewell is meaningful and comforting for the bereaved.

Arthur Psaltis - BComm FCA (retired), GAICD. Arthur provides the business overarching specialist capital markets advice, and structuring services. Arthur’s stewardship brings with it 38 years of experience in financial services. Arthur has spent the last 25 years leading equity capital markets teams at VMG, Nab, Westpac and Macquarie and his experience span ECM, M&A, corporate finance, business recovery and reconstruction advice. Arthur has operated across borders on capital raising in Europe, Australia and Asia with strategic advice across multiple asset classes. A key component is his skill in the creation of new strategies aimed at advancing the potential of organisations. Arthur has covered industry groups as diverse as banking, property, professional services, retailing, consumer goods, transport, education, insurance, superannuation and aged care. Arthur is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (retired) and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of New South Wales majoring in accounting, finance, and systems.
